Archery Range Rules

Arrows are just as dangerous as firearms and must be treated with the same respect.

Do not dry-fire your bow. This can lead to bow breakage or de-lamination.

Arrows must not be knocked except on the firing line.
Knocked arrows must be pointed down-range.

Broadheads must only be used on broadhead targets, not on stuffed bales.

Explain to participants the activity and the rules.

"Range is Active" - No one is forward of the firing line.

"Shooters Ready" - Archers take their place on the firing line and knock their arrows.

"Shoot" or "Fire" - Commence shooting or firing.

"Cease Fire" - Archers are to stop shooting. Note: ANYONE may call "Cease Fire" if they observe a dangerous situation or if there is an emergency.

"Rack Bows" - Place bows on rack or bench.

"Range is Clear" - Archers go forth to retrieve arrows. Note: When extracting arrows from the target, stand to one side of the person pulling the arrows free in order to avoid being poked by the knock end of the shaft.
